The Nagaland government has declared the Singphan Wildlife Sanctuary as an elephant reserve making it the 30th reserve for jumbos in the country.
An important reserve in North Eastern States, Singphan Elephant Reserve has huge tracts of forest, strategically located in contiguity with the Abhaypur Reserve Forest of Assam which is frequented by the moving herds of elephants.The Singphan Elephant Reserve is located in Mon district of Nagaland."

4 "Bengal aiming to reduce under nutrition by 2020: Mamata
Observing the National Nutrition Week, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that the state government has adopted a multi-sectoral strategy to reduce under-nutrition and anaemia among women and children in a targeted manner by 2020. The National Nutrition Week was started by the Central government in 1982 to curb malnutrition and is observed every year from September 1-7."
5 "Centre clears plan to rename railway station in Jharkhand after Krishna
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has cleared the Jharkhand government’s proposal to rename a railway station in Garhwa district after Lord Krishna. According to Home Ministry officials, the Raghubar Das government had proposed that Nagar Untari town and railway station be renamed as Banshidhar Nagar, after Banshidhar Temple, which is dedicated to Krishna, in Garhwa. The Jharkhand government wants to develop Nagar Untari as Banshidhar Nagar and model it on the lines of Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. They have plans to make ‘Banshidhar Nagar’ part of the Lord Krishna religious circuit.Centre had cleared the proposal."
6 "International Aviation Summit Held In New Delhi
The International Aviation Summit began in New Delhi. The seminar has been jointly organised by the Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation and International Air Transport Association (IATA). Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu announced that the Civil Aviation Ministry is coming up with Vision 2035 under which it plans to build 100 new airports across India in the next 10-15 years with an investment of USD 60 billion and address the major issues concerning aviation industry such as airport infrastructure, taxation and use of technology."

Indian Space Research Organisation is gearing up for a flurry of space activities from September as it will conduct 19 launches, including the Chandrayaan-2 mission, in just seven months. 8 "PM Jan Dhan Yojana To Be Open-Ended Scheme With More Incentives
The government decided to make the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) an open-ended scheme, meaning that it will continue indefinitely and added more incentives to encourage people to open bank accounts.To make the scheme more attractive, the government has decided to double the overdraft facility from Rs 5, 000 to Rs 10, 000. Arun Jaitely said that 32.41 crore accounts have been opened under the scheme and as much Rs 81, 200 crore has been deposited in them so far.Jaitley said 53% of the PMJDY account holders are women, while 83 per cent of the accounts are seeded with Aadhaar. The PMJDY was launched in August 2014 for a period of four years as a national mission for financial inclusion to ensure access of financial services like bank accounts, insurance and pensions to the masses."

Terming the 2+2 dialogue between India and the United States as a historic dialougue in New Delhi, External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, announced the signing of the Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) between the two nations. The COMCASA will facilitate India to obtain critical defence technologies from the US, and access critical communication network to ensure interoperability among the US and the Indian armed forces. "
10 "India ranks 19 in ‘Theft Ranking’ for countries with weapons usable nuclear materials
India has improved its ranking by one spot from 2016 and now stands 19th in the ‘Theft Ranking’ for countries with weapons usable nuclear materials, according to the Nuclear Security Index. The index was released by the US-based Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI).
Australia, which was at the top in 2012, 2014, and 2016 among the 22 countries with weapons-usable nuclear materials, this time shares the top spot with Switzerland."

12 "India And France To Collaborate On Human Space Mission ‘Gaganyaan’
Stepping up space cooperation, India and France inked an agreement to collaborate on Gaganyaan, ISRO’s first human space mission. The two countries have formed a working group for the project. India plans to send three humans to space before 2022. The Indian Space Research Organisation’s mission is significant as it would make India one of the four countries in the world after Russia, US and China to launch a manned space flight.

13 "IAF carries out first ever mid-air refuelling of Tejas combat jet
The Indian Air Force said it has successfully carried out the first ever mid air refuelling of the indigenously developed Tejas light combat aircraft, a major milestone in its development cycle. A Russian-built IL-78 MKI tanker transferred fuel to a Tejas MK I aircraft. The mid-air refueling of Tejas came three months after it successfully fired an air-to-air beyond visual (BVR) range missile. The specially modified Tejas aircraft carried out a series of test profiles including a ‘dry contact’ with the tanker."
14 "Piyush Goyal Launched ‘AAPOORTI’ App Of ‘Indian Railways e-Procurement System’
In order to improve the ease of doing business with Indian Railways, the national transporter has taken a significant step. Piyush Goyal-led Railway Ministry has launched the Aapoorti mobile app of Indian Railways e-procurement system (IREPS).
According to Railway Ministry, all the tendering activities of the national transporter for procurement of goods, services as well as works and e-auction of scrap sale are on IREPS, which makes it the largest G2B portal in India."

India’s ever first Global Mobility Summit – MOVE – was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The Indian e-commerce market would become worth over $100 billion by the year 2022, with a growth of around 25 per cent from the current level, a report said.
There is a need to harmonise the e-commerce policy framework in the country to enable growth in the sector, stated a joint report by PwC and Nasscom – Propelling India towards global leadership in e-commerce.

18 "Nepal not to join BIMSTEC military drill in India
Nepal will not join the first-ever joint military drill among the armies of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) members, to be hosted by India next week. The decision was made by the Nepali government amid growing criticism from multiple quarters over the country’s participation in the first ever military drill among the armies of BIMSTEC members.
BIMSTEC was founded in 1997 .It is a regional bloc group of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand."

23 "Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to cover Child Cancer Treatment
The government has said that treatment of childhood cancer will be covered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The scheme will provide health insurance cover of five lakh rupees to poor families. BPL and lower-middle-class families will benefit from it.
1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres will be opened in the country by 2022 under Ayushman Bharat. These centres will provide comprehensive healthcare against diseases like diabetes, cancer, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. "
24 "India, Bangladesh jointly inaugurate three projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, and Chief Ministers of West Bengal and Tripura jointly inaugurated three projects in Bangladesh via video conferencing. These include 500 MW additional power supply from India to Bangladesh, Akhaura – Agartala Rail Link and Rehabilitation of the Kulaura-Shahbazpur section of Bangladesh Railways. The Prime Minister said that Akhaura-Agartala rail connectivity will provide another link in the cross-border connectivity between the two countries. Bihar and Nepal are now connected by bus. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar flagged off the first bus service between Bihar and Nepal. The service will link Bodh Gaya and Patna in Bihar to Kathmandu and Janakpur in Nepal. “The bus service will strengthen the relations between India and Nepal, ” Nitish Kumar said. The first of its kind university in the country on the transport sector, the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), started operations this week. With an aim to boost the pro-farmer initiatives of the government, the Centre approved a new Umbrella Scheme “Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan’ (PM-AASHA). The scheme is aimed at ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce as announced in the Union Budget for 2018. The cabinet has decided to give additional government guarantee of Rs.16, 550 crore making it Rs. 45, 550 crore in total. 40 "India gets its first ever dedicated dog park in Hyderabad
For the first time in India, dog owners will have a dedicated dog park to visit. Set up in Hyderabad, the park is spread across an area of 1.3 acres. The park houses dog training equipment, play equipment, splash pool, fountain, areas for exercise, amphitheater, lawns, separate kennels for small and big dogs and a dedicated dog clinic. The park was initially a dump yard at Kondapur. It was converted into a dog park by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore. The inauguration of the park is scheduled to be held in next week. It is developed at the international standards and is also certified by the Kennel Club of India."

India’s first underwater robotic drone developed at Maker Village in Kochi, which can send real-time video of ships and other underwater structures to help with their repair and maintenance, was launched. The first commercial remotedly operated vehicle (ROV)/ underwater drone, Eyerovtuna, was developed by EyeROV Technologies, a company incubating at Maker Village which is the largest hardware incubator in the country."

43 "‘Swacch Dhara’ programme flagged off in Amaravati
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu flagged off the ‘Swachh Dhara’ programme in Amravati, with an aim to provide clean drinking water across the state.
As part of the scheme, tankers providing water across the state will be cleaned periodically through a six-layered cleaning process which involves the use of ultraviolet radiation to kill bacteria.

The Supreme Court said that linking Aadhaar with bank accounts and mobile phone numbers is not mandatory, but a must for Permanent Account Number (PAN). The 4th BIMSTEC summit successfully concluded with Nepal prime minister KP Sharma Oli handing over the chairmanship of the grouping to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the top leaders of other BIMSTEC member states attended the two-day summit in Kathmandu. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed on establishment of the BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection to enhance energy cooperation among the member states. Germany rolled out the world’s first hydrogen-powered train, signalling the start of a push to challenge the might of polluting diesel trains with costlier but eco-friendly technology.
